$255,000 in Tuition Scholarships Awarded to 2004 Graduating Seniors

255 students graduating in 2004 from Washington's high schools were each awarded a $1,000.00 tuition scholarship to attend a private career college.

In its sixth year, the Careers That Work! Scholarship is offered through the Washington Federation of Private Career Schools and Colleges. The Program makes available three $1,000.00 tuition scholarships to every high school in Washington. The high schools identify award recipients who plan to attend one of the participating schools. Each high school develops the criteria for selection. If the recipient is accepted for enrollment at the chosen school, they are awarded $1,000.00 to help meet tuition costs.

"We are delighted to be able to assist graduates and their families with the cost of higher education," said Gena Wikstrom, executive director of the Washington Federation of Private Career Schools and Colleges. "Many high school seniors have identified their career path, using a technical college as the resource to achieve that goal."

Seniors from 124 high schools across the state were awarded a "Careers That Work!" scholarship.
