To keep up with growing demand, the 2010 Careers That Work! scholarship program will make available five $1000 scholarships to every high school in Idaho, Oregon and Washington to award to 2010 graduates. For the past ten years the number available was three per high school. For more information call 425/376-0369.
Did you know?
The first recorded private “venture” school opened in 1705 in Colonial America, the first business college opened in Washington in 1886 and Perry Technical Institute opened in 1941, making it the oldest, continuously operating private career college in Washington. In 2009, private career colleges are highly efficient educators, integral to the economy’s turn-around by providing career-focused education.

Our Mission
Strategy: Five key areas of focus
The membership works closely with the executive director and chief lobbyist to develop a legislative agenda to proactively advance legislation and regulation favorable to career education. We build positive, lasting relationships with legislative/regulatory officials and keep our membership informed of our positions, approaches and progress.
The Board of Directors works to facilitate dialog between member schools on business and education issues through regular meetings and available communication options. The NWCCF provides members with information that will keep them informed of issues important to career education.
The NWCCF works to raise awareness of the value of private career colleges with government officials, education representatives, and the business community. We promote the importance of private career education to the Northwest's economy and its positive impact on the lives of thousands of individuals entering the job market and their ability to gain valuable job skills.
The NWCCF is dedicated to offering professional growth opportunities for member schools' staff, faculty and leadership. We recognize that life-long learning is critical to the success of our members. We provide various programs for professional growth, critical during this dynamic time of change.
The Board of Directors sets the future course for the NWCCF by listening to our members. Based on member needs, we develop programs and services that create high value in membership.
Advocacy
As the authoritative voice of private career colleges and schools, NWCCF works with state and federal legislators and key regulatory officials to ensure that member needs and priorities are addressed in education-related policy and regulatory development. The federation’s executive director, legislative lobbyists and proactive board of directors work to ensure that private career colleges and schools are recognized as an essential component of higher education and a vital contributor to both local and regional economies.
